Audio Emoticons
Audicons, or audio emoticons, are audible representations of emotion, used to convey thoughts or feelings with a sound that replaces a single word (trigger). The audicon window will display audio emoticons available in your chat room.

Click on any audicon to add its corresponding trigger to the input field. When you send your message to the chat room, the trigger will display and the corresponding sound will be heard by all users who have audio enabled.

Text Color

You may change your text color as it is displayed within the chat room by right clicking the color dialog by clicking the Color button within the Button Toolbar.

A sample color dialog is shown to the left. You may select a color directly from the web-safe palette, or you may manually adjust your color with the HSB and RGB options. Click the OK button to apply your new color settings.

Private Messages

To send an instant (private) message to another user, you may use the /msg command, or simply double click on another user's name in the user list.

By double-clicking on another user's name, a new window will apppear allowing you to have a one-on-one conversation with that user. To send a message, type your message in the input field at the top and click the Send button.

Our policy is that unless you have already established a relationship with another, you must ask permission in the main chat window before opening a private message.

Subrooms

Celestine Chat offers multiple subrooms. Subrooms are shown in the list on the lower right hand side of the applet, just below the user list. They are indicated by a gold door icon (). To enter another room, double click on a room name to enter that room.

Users may also create subrooms. To create a new subroom, clcik on the icon. When you name your subroom, be aware that subroom names may not contain spaces. You will automatically be placed in the subroom you create. When a user-created subroom is empty, it is removed from the system.

To move among rooms, double click on the room names in the User List area.

Timestamp
You may toggle the timestamp on/off by clicking the timestamp button . The timestamp may also be accessed from the right-click menu in the main content area (where messages are displayed). When this feature is turned on, all incoming messages will be displayed with the time that they were received. This time is relative to your own computer, and the timezone in which it resides.

Float & Dock

Many users find this feature helpful. Click the Float/Dock button to load the chat room into a separate window, which is then resizable. When you wish to return the chatroom to its browser, simply reclick the Float/Dock button.

Note: You must keep the original browser window that the chat room was floated from open, although it can be minimizez. Closing this window will cause your chat connection to close.

Message Scrollback
The Message Scrollback Feature allows you to scroll back through the previous messages you have entered into the chatroom. To use this feature, simply press the Up and Down arrow buttons in the blue box where you type messages. This feature makes it easy to simply go back and edit the message that you have just typed.
