Hi James -
How would you respond to someone that says to you the messages in the Celestine Prophecy are "inconsistent" with biblical teachings? (And hence, are not something to be embraced).
Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Roger |

Dear Roger,
While I cannot speak for James, I can only put forward my idea about your inquest.
The word "inconsistent" Lent?s itself to multiple interpretations. So does this series of books. Nothing in any of the books ever says that the bible is the source of the books. It gives lots of parables in order for us to relate to it on a level that we can understand. In the first book the scriptures are implied to be written in Aramaic (a language from a time before the bible) and held by cultures, continents removed from the origin of the testaments. I belief that James never intended to follow the rigged guidelines of any particular faith or holy books there off. But he takes synopsis from many different ideologies, faiths, believes, superstitions and whatever else you might be able to see in it.
It is simply a story, which outlines a lot of things that can be experienced by anyone who pays a little attention. And many of us, follow specific instructions in the books, because we know it works and makes us feel better. Most of all it gives many of us an explanation for things that we where aware off a long time before the books came out, but we where not able to talk to anyone mainstream about it.
I personally like the ideas put forward in the books, because it gives you a lot of things to work on a personal level, but does not ask you to join a certain community or spend a lot of money before giving you any info at all. And last but not least, no one tries to convert you to anything!
Any book of faith today, has been written by people for their own community and hence contains the truth for that particular following. Over time all books of faith have been rewritten to fit certain needs and ideas.
Look at officially atheist China as example: It is not seldom that you will find local people here at Sunday mass, the same person at lunchtime praying at a Taoist temple, afternoon visiting a Buddhist temple and for good measure at evening prayers following the Koran. Sounds strange to most of us, and we will put it down as hedging their bets and not really having a faith at all.
Actually the above is a very common occurrence. Nearly all over the world you will find that people are either this or that, but follow some other ideas at the same time, take Voodoo as example.
I am a Christian who does not belief in Angles/Dakinis (I KNOW THEM TO BE HERE WITH US AT ANY TIME); I follow the scriptures as far as my conscience allows me to. Fortunately I was able to travel a lot and this gave me the huge opportunity to learn. Some of my best friends today are strict followers of this or that faith. What holds us together is not our faith in one particular scripture, but our eagerness to learn from each other. We all know that we can learn from each other and with that reach our own particular truth.
There is only one truth, but there are many messengers!
In the end, it is up to the individual to embrace an idea, and only you can deceide if you can embrace those ideas.
I hope the above is in agreement with James and answers at least part of your question.
Blessed be the life we live,
Kurt |

Roger,
What parts do you find inconsitent with biblical teachings?
Sure there's the idea of embracing other religions, and honoring other high adepts. But I don't think Mr. Redfield ever says he doesn't think Christ is the Savior. I don't think Mr. Redfield takes a posistion on Christ at all. Considering he wants to reach a wide audience, I think this is a great approach.
The ideas about a pre-mortal existence and afterlife, the angels/dakini, positive prayer expectations (faith), beautiful social ethics... even the idea of tithing, although it is not what my Church believes is still a biblical idea. _________________ Sister G0$he |

I am a Hindu. In the Bhagavand Gita it is taught that you can be Christian and still be Hindu. This may sound very contradictory, but the universal truth is that being committed to any faith takes devotion and humility and as long as you are true to your actions in this life, your karma will be repaid by not material gain but a cycle of mental well-being _________________ Regards,

while i think that the insights are directly in line with scripture for the most part, and simply shed new light and a different perspective on what they tell us, i have to say that i think srimati_sen has an excellent point that people really need to explore!

I would like to state a vision we had two nights running....
The book of Genesis is Egyptian and also the recorded in Greek separately slight name errors, yet same stories!
So we are one, which is the mustard seed as it gets its head out of the box to realize the light of God makes us all grow to begin. _________________ Spiritology Oneness - True Faith |

not openly or forcefully anyways. but it does open the door opened with a gentle touch..... even though alot of the people who read this i've talked to said it gave their life a real smack, certainly did for me... second time in my life i had my world flipped upsidedown and inside out etc.
I think you learn more about the bible by reading about the history of it rather than reading the book itself (not that i've got very far through it though)...
As i read somone point out recently on this forum, that's perhaps more religiology than religion.

just like, | Quote: | | The Universe speaks in many languages, but only one voice. The language is not Narn, or Human, or Centauri, or Gaim or Minbari. It speaks in the language of hope; It speaks in the language of trust; It speaks in the language of strength, and the language of compassion. It is the language of the heart and the language of the soul. But always, it is the same voice. It is the voice of our ancestors, speaking through us, And the voice of our inheritors, waiting to be born. It is the small, still voice that says: We are one. No matter the blood; No matter the skin; No matter the world; No matter the star; We are one. No matter the pain; No matter the darkness; No matter the loss; No matter the fear; We are one. Here, gathered together in common cause. we agree to recognise this singular truth, and this singular rule: That we must be kind to one another, because each voice enriches us and ennobles us, and each voice lost diminishes us. We are the voice of the Universe, the soul of creation, the fire that will light the way to a better future. We are one. |
something i intend to commit to memory. maybe changing the names of specie's languages to something a little more earthly.
srimati_sen, I too have found myself on a multi denominational "religious" path. raised in the church of scotland, left as soon as i could, was aithiest for a while, then accepted the logic of being agnostic, then started "my own religion", of which there's only one piece i share with anyone, that is that, I am the only one in this religion, and that's as dogmatic as it gets. I've looked into various forms of buddhism, for example the nichiren school that teaches the mantra of "Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo" as the only way to end suffering as it means (aprx translation) I summon in me (nam), Universal law (myoho), the ever reseeding and flowering of the lotus heart (renge), teachings/sutras (kyo), and i've also looked with a great deal of sincerity into the cosmologies of various relgions, most notably hindu and jain, hinduism giving an intreagingly fresh perspective on the construct of our universe through characterised deities or forces that to me reside quite well and compliment modern physics and scientific cosmology, most of this (except my own ordaining as a "reverend", a title i'm not fussed about) was after reading the celestine prophecy, and most recently looking into Taoism, which seems to have brought me full circle.
and through it all, my own conceptual and visual revelations on the poly-cyclic multiverse, and both south american spiritualism and north american too as reinforcement of healing practices to say the least. yes, we truely are one. something best reinforced in myself when responsably utilising psychotropic substances, or as i've come to prefer calling them "exo-hormones" (psylocybin mushrooms specifically) and literally exploring the universe through the extra connections in my brain. Truely, through it all, we are one. One are we. Thats all the "god" i need. Theology aside.
inconsistency with biblical teachings? the bible itself is inconsistent with the bible. so it's no large feat to be inconsistent with those books. how many versions are there now? there's a world of difference between what i see as churchiantiy and christianity. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, give me agony.

All I have to say is Anyone should embrace anything for any reason. And be Damn sure that the Bible should have no bearing on whther or not you choose to embrace anything. It's just another book afterall. _________________ A frustrated mind in a frustrating world. |
