I started to notice the difference between when I put food that's extremely cheaply made in November, then on Wednesday, December 28th, I became aware of when I put junk food into my body. Now, I've got a bunch of food that essentially tastes like cardboard because I really don't like the way I feel when I put junk/artificial foods and liquids into my body, and yet now I find myself craving flavor. The only cooking equipment I have consists of pots, pans, an oven, a stove, and a microwave. I have a couple other items as well, but my cooking knowledge/skills is worse than an F-
Any advise you can give, or places to look, or even a simple comment with anything you can think of would be of tremendous help. |

Have you ever looked into Ayurveda / the three doshas -- kapha, pitta, vata? (http://doshaquiz.chopra.com/)
My recommendations are:
1) Spice, spice, spice!
-There are five tastes: sweet, salty, bitter, sour, savory. Use them all!
-If you're doing the ayurveda thing, there are also certain spices that help/hinder certain body types. Research and find your balance.
2) Fruits and veggies of the rainbow
Different colors mean different vitamins & nutrients. Make your meals into a rainbow.
3) Experimentation
You should have a basic awareness of how foods & spices taste (what you like, what you don't like). Just run with that. You'll never know until you try. One of my favorite resources is: http://www.allrecipes.com. There's a really neat tool that lets you input ingredients and it finds recipes you can make using what you have. I like that because usually when I go to the store, I buy based on what I feel like eating, and not necessarily based around meals I have in mind.
As long as you've got knives and cutting boards (with your pots and pans and stove), you're good to go. Expand as you find the urge. Good luck! |
