Hi,

Thankyou OIndigo for your thoughts and the link on energy vibration, I find this area particularly interesting (starting from reading the celestine prophecy!) and was attuned a few weeks ago into the first degree of reiki.

I had been having a lot of health problems over the past 6 months and as a result felt like I had plateued in my spiritual understanding, as I had got all I could from the basic meditation I was previously doing and so didn't know where to go from there.

I decided to use this time to try to understand my body more fully and why it was causing me such problems and so I read many books over the summer and came across one on reiki that really inspired me.

I decided after reading this book that I wanted to give reiki a try and see if it could help me heal myself and so the synchronisities brought me to my teacher who I really felt was the best person to attune me.

It was an experience far more powerful than I had expected it to be and the energy felt very different to what I was expecting, as you said it is hot and at a higher vibratory level than I had previously experienced through energy meditations.

Since being attuned my health has dramatically attuned physically and mentally I feel more clear headed and confident, I think it worked so well for me as it came at a time when I really needed something to push me forward from the rut I was in to get to where I want to be.

My life is going in much more of a relaxed spiritual way now which is how i wanted to live my life so i look forward to carrying on this journey and learning more

If anyone else decides that they would like to be attuned use your intuition to find the best teacher for you, as there are so many out there and only you will know which characteristics in their style and personality appeal to you.

I see this is a rather old thread, is anyone still interested in discussion?

I used to practice reiki all the time, and am just getting back into living it as a reality.

I have learned about Ma'heo'o reiki, which incorporates many native American ideas and draws on the powers of nature as well. Has anyone heard of this or have any experience with it?

I am also wondering about distance Attunements. Some people caution against them and many masters promote them. If reiki can be used for distance healing, why not attunemens? Anyone want to weigh in on this?

Most of the attunements I received were at a distance, but I did start out with in-person attunements for Usui Reiki. Both were valuable, but I would say that receiving attunements at a distance requires more participation from the person receiving the attunements. Often I actually got more from sending attunements at a distance than receiving them. In order to strengthen my connection to a new reiki system after receiving it at a distance I would then send it to myself a few times. Some of the systems that I barely felt, like solar light reiki and lunar light reiki, ended up being some of my strongest while I was actively working with them.

Ma'heo'o Reiki doesn't sound familiar. At one point I would have said that there are thousands of reiki systems out there, but now I am not sure if it is better to say tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of reiki systems. It isn't unusual anymore to find people who are attuned to over one thousand reiki systems. I might even be one of them, but I didn't keep track as I went along. Most ended up not being worth remembering. I'm not saying that about the one that you were attuned to; I have already said that I don't know anything about it. The important thing is that anything that heals or clears the energy pathways that go through your body will strengthen all of your reiki systems.

As for actually changing your life ... I don't know. Currently I am trying to find a way to bridge by beliefs and energy practices and meditations with my actual day-to-day life, so that they are no longer so separate. It is easy enough to raise energy and to experience positive emotions but it isn't doing much to get a better job or even to get rid of the headache I am currently experiencing. At this point I am over 240 days into A Course In Miracles, and it is causing regular shifts in my beliefs and attitudes. I have a feeling that I am on the right track to make my actual life seem more magical rather than just my meditation and energy work.
