A thought:
I truly believe that the whole point of this life is to almost like a sponge listen and soak up energy from all others around you (and animals too) without a state of discrimination because outside perspectives are the most revealing- so I am probably not helping things by talking but anyway... I've been playing ring around the rosy practically my whole life and despite moments of coincidental peace- especially lately. I think the truth is that becoming "good" is something that we can never do. Now hear me out first- The concept of "good" is either an energy field but to me it is more like a hovering face that is perched just beyond us so close that with one wiggle of our lips we couild kiss it and yet we cant. it is the dangling prize that is so tempting yet unattainable that we look for in the mysteries of the opposite sex and through sacrificing all that we have to sacrifice etc... Maybe it is the face of God (I read somewhere that Jesus declared that he himself was not "good"- a good man I think- that only his father was that -and who am I but deluded if I claim that I am good now despite what history has revealed through and since Jesus to further help us grow.
Now I am not pessimistic I am no sucker I am a self proclaimed realist despite my many faults I want to know what the real story is and not puff my ego up. Does this unnatainability mean that we are doomed to chaos? No, We should always reach as far as we can reach through honesty, standing up for yourself, uplifting others and whatever else is "oriented" towards good. I think we should learn to be happiest when, and that, we are reaching and striving to be good but be supremely patient and content that we cant grab it and make it ours. Words can be intimidating but my point is pretty light and simple. Of course I know that you can show me the real truth beyond this as well if that's the case. Thanks for hearing me out and now I'll shut my trap and start enjoying all of this
All my love to you
-and peace

Hello James,
First of all I have to say you have a way with words. Your post was very entertaining to read. If you are not a poet you probably could be.
So you ask, what is this life about and can we be good. I will give you my understanding of it and take it for what it?s worth. Though I do think energy is a factor of life, it is who we are, what we are made of, I don?t think our main goal is to just gain energy where ever we can. Energy is how we operate but the purpose of this life is to reconnect with the original intent. I can?t say for certain that I know what the original intent is but the dynamics of it are that we originated as sparks of energy from the source energy, each with the vision implanted within but forgotten. Being that the physics of energy is that it cannot be contained we have all veered from the original intent thinking our vision is the one true vision. We struggle with each other trying to get our vision heard until we come to realize that the struggle is what holds us back. So in the end, when we?ve all learned how to let go of our control, all of our energies with all of our visions will come together as one in a creation of greatness.
Now to address your question about being good. I think good is a relative term and in your case I think you may be confusing good with perfection. Can we achieve perfection? What is perfection really? The problem with words is we all perceive them differently so what is perfect to one person may not be perfect to someone else. I think it is more a matter of can we achieve enlightenment and yes I think we can and will one day. If we all get to the point where we perceive enlightenment as perfection then yes we will also achieve perfection. The bottom line is our goal in life is to attain enlightenment. So it stands to reason that we are all out trying to attain that which we think will make us happy and enlightened. How we go about pursuing our happiness is really just a matter of choice. Sometimes you make (good) positive choices and sometime you make (bad) negative choices. Subsequently, at its core, the universe is designed to react to the type of energy we put out so the choosing itself isn?t inherently negative but making a negative choice may result in your not attaining the desired outcome you were looking for.
So, in a nut, shell that?s my take on it. If I am right or if I am wrong I will never truly be able to know. What I do know is that I have achieved a level of peace in my life that I have never experienced before. I basically realized that there really is no such thing as right and wrong. If you think in those terms you start making choices based on fear, guilt, or would of, could of, should of. Essentially the way I choose to approach life, positively or negatively, will dictate how happy or unhappy my life will be. So choose to be happy not to be sad. Choose to not to be angry instead choose to be glad. You may just be bringing out the poet in me.
Happy Trails,
Michelle |

Our purpose on this Earth is to see if we as individuals choose the right. We have free agency. It is our choise to love or not. We have all of this life to learn.
Eventually we realize that not matter how much we learn we cannot be perfect without help. We can get help from eachother. This is called service. When we learn we need help we also tend to learn we need to serve others too.
Ultimately we need divine assistance to return to Our Parents in heaven, the trick is accepting the gift that they offer.
When we pass from this life to the next WE CONTINUE TO LEARN. This life is but a knot in a rope that reaches around the earth. We have a lot to learn and a long time to practice. _________________ Sister G0$he |

If you are looking at what is good, or right, then there is also a bad, and wrong. This way of looking at things buys into the illusion of duality. Try to notice the separation that this creates, and practice having a neutral standpoint. Things are neither good or bad... they just are. It is us who makes them good or bad with our beliefs and judgments. A gun isn't good or bad. Salt isn't good or bad. People aren?t good or bad. When we label something bad, we put our negative energy on it. If we label a person as bad, we put them in a box and will always respond to that person from our judgment. This will not help that person grow, learn, and remember. Instead, we can think of them as doing their best with the resources they presently have. We can see a persons higher potential as Spirit, and nurture that part.
I agree that we are here to learn, but mostly... I believe we are here to REMEMBER who we are. If we have lived here for hundreds, or even thousands of lifetimes, how much more can we learn? We can tune into our higher wisdom (GOD) and realize that we are UNLIMITED, MULTIDIMENSIONAL BEINGS of LIGHT.
I think while we are in these bodies; we are here to connect with spirit, trust ourselves, and learn from the choices we make, if we don't make the best choice. By best choice I mean, the one that serves all. |

I agree with michellepetkus and Selya.
I think that every person has/creates their own meaning in their own life.
I once made the meaning of my life, to find 'The' meaning of life. Sending myself into a cycle of questions answering questions, then I went crazy. Being too young to understand that meaning is something humans create to help us deal with the complex paradigm sets we view life with.
I don't believe one single 'meaning' exists that sums up life, the universe and everything, unless it's 42(if not understood, read/view Douglas Adams 'A Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy').
If there was one meaning we all were aiming towards and we all reached the level of buddha, life would become extremly boring indeed. Variety being the 'spice' of life.
Whilst we may not be the 'centre' of the universe, we definatly live on the most intersting/diverse planet we know of.
There is almost infinite numbers of different physical forces, environments, life forms, poeple, technology, ideas, stories, ontologies, societies, etc all 'dancing'/interacting with everything else in an almost infinite number of complex/dynamic ways.
In relation to your notion of good and bad. I'll just add this to michelle and selyas' quotes;
-HYPOTHETICALLY
think about someone who might of accidently 'run over' Hitler as a child. They would swerve to avoid killing an 'innocent' child. This is a 'Good' action. But, the millions of dead fighters and their families from WWII wouldn't agree in retrospect.
So even though Moses and Mohammed both lived 'good' lives preaching 'virtuousness brings happiness' they might reconsider their actions if they knew palestine and isreal would be murdering each other thousands of years in the future.
So somone might do something 'bad', e.g. murder a whole family. But you can never be sure where the next hitler is coming from.
So, I find that being virtuous brings me most joy and freedom from socities punishments for doing 'bad' things and freedom to explore the mysterious wonder that is life.
but each to his own. |
