I was. It didn't do me any harm either.

I can see some significant similarities between what I read on 'spiritual' topics nowadays, and what Mary Baker Eddy (and others) wrote about 150 years ago.

It would be interesting to know if anybody else here has been involved with Christian Science at all.

Best wishes... Coote.

Hi Coote,

I was not raised with Christian Science though I believe the author Doreen Virtue was. I found her book, The Lightworkers Way, quite interesting.

Thanks Michelle...I didn't know that. I've heard of Doreen Virtue, but I've never heard of that particular title. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Hi Coote,

I was raised Catholic, although I do not belong to any denomination now. I think everyone plays their part along our paths and each holds a bit of truth. Pieces of the puzzle are coming together in my opinion, and one day we will be all in all. How beautiful is that??!! Very Happy

I agree that everyone or everything can have a useful part to play. And while we may pick up the message (sometimes spoken directly, sometimes implied) that "our" religion is the only way to go.... this is something that I simply cannot accept.

I still go to church on a fairly regular basis even though I am no longer an official member. One reason I do this is to support my Mother to whom church is a fairly big part of her life. And there are some lovely members there, the music is great, the readings are useful...and best of all the testimony meetings can be very inspiring. When we hear people we love and trust telling how they applied their understanding of reality to problems and achieved a happy outcome, it can be very encouraging and educational.

But the ritualism...and the meetings to decide on what colour the walls should be....don't do much for me at all Crying or Very sad

My upbringing in this religion showed me that we can depend on God. I've learned about spiritual healing and I have benefited from it. Prayer can be really effective and I am grateful to have learned this.

I get the feeling that maybe I should be endeavoring to become a better spiritual healer and that I should be trying to help others more. My upbringing has undoubtedly been a big influence here. So I'm waiting for the next step to become aparrent.

I'll visit this site again next week, all going well, to see what other gems of wisdom have been added. I appreciate all the good input.....Coote.

Dear Coote,

I do not think Jesus preached a particular "religion", rather a way of life, that centers around love. God is Love. That is my understanding so far.

Peace to you.
