| Well, I was just noticing, I didn't get a very good look at it, since the preview only shows it momentarily, but it looks like the scroll is written in Hebrew. Was that intended? I don't know how some pretty well-preserved Hebrew manuscripts found their way to Peru..does the movie shed some light on this? Another point, and problem, is that the Hebrew is post-exilic Hebrew, rather than the Phoenician alphabet..I dunno if that's what was intended or not..maybe I should watch the movie. |

I had noticed as well the scrolls being in hebrew.
In fact I found it interesting that the scrolls were in hebrew, yet the ninth insight was a stone that looked like it had glyphs(no hebrew at all), as if an older language or something. Was this a continuity error in the film/story?
Also wondering about several times in the movie that there is mention that photos were taken of the scrolls to be examined by other people not at that location. If that is true then where are the photos(if in fact the scroll originals were destroyed), because I sure would like to see those images........ _________________ Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be the Whole of the Law! |

I am not really qualified to answer your questions as I was not a part of the making of the movie. However, it is my guess that if there are any historical inaccuracies with the movie it was not intended. The bottom line is the story behind the movie is fiction. The scrolls do not exist outside of the story. The author of the book chose to self finance making the movie to maintain creative control which he wouldn't have had, had he done it through Hollywood. This however also means that there wasn't a budget to be able to hire historians to keep the continuity of the historical aspects of the story. It is infact just a story and not intended to be taken literally. The insights have validity but the rest should be viewed as creative license.
Sincerely,
Michelle |
