Me and the number eleven

A few weeks ago, I was signing a release which could not be effective for more than 90 days. When it asked for expiration date, I wrote "11/11/11." I thought, "That's odd. Wonder what's up with 11."

We are on vacation and yesterday visited the Johnson Space Center. When reading about Apollo 11, I learned something. The US left a plaque on the moon which reads, "We came in peace for all mankind."

The building we are staying in is 111.

I am a freelance writer. Yesterday I got a call from a publisher I have written for in the past. They want me to write for them again. They really don't pay enough and they take too much time from things that should be a higher priority. My daughters were online and looking at a "list of answers." They asked me to give them a number. I said 11. The answer was, "The job is finished. Move on."

We visited an art museum. I was looking at a mobile and spotted the number 11. On closer inspection, it was from A.A.'s twelve-step program and said, "11.Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out." I liked the phrase "as we understood him" as i do not believe in a traditional God. And, more importantly, it has crossed my mind many times in the last year that it would probably be best if I stopped drinking.

I have heard there is a higher significance to the number 11. Does anyone know what it is?

Thank you, Susan. Everything you said is very fitting -- especially the part about balance. I'm a person who always has too much on my plate. As I approach 50, I've asked myself "am I doing what I really want to do?" or am denying myself that fulfillment with my "busyness?" Since I've always been someone who tries to do too much, I've often thought about balance, how can I balance it all.

You posted something I need to think about and I will also peruse you blog.
