I first learned about reiki in 2000, shortly after finishing the Celestine Prophecy book. Shortly thereafter, I got my first attunement. The teacher said that she would attune us to the third level, basically opening us up to the maximum amount of energy. She then gave us instructions on level 1 reiki. So we are attuned to the master level, but can only practice at level 1 untill recieving further instruction - symbols etc. She also gave us each a personal symbol to use when practicing reiki. I have had many people say to me that my energy was one of the most powerful they had felt; others have been amazed at my ability to pinpoint sources of discomfort (physical and emotional).

Somewhere along the line, I stopped living the vision. I lost sight of my spirituality. Not that I stopped believing, they just weren't a part of my everyday life (actions) anymore. It's like I still believe everything in the books, but am having a very hard time living it. I see myself acting out my control dramas again, but only after the incident. Can't seem to stop during it and see what is really going on. I also know that at some point I stopped trusting myself to know what is best for me, and also trusting others at all. I don't know how or why I became so closed off, but I know that I have been suffering because of it. Now it is time for me to reconnect, I am just having trouble with how? Hoping this forum may help some, just to reconnect with like-minded people might help re-opening the door way. I have been shut off in too many ways for too long. Time for the phoenix to fly again I guess!

Now I haven't felt the energy like that in years, sometimes I can still fell it a little, other times not at all. I am trying to regain spititual ground that I have lost and wondering what the best course of action is? Would just a healing session help, or should I do another class/attunement? I have also recently been reading about Maheo'o reiki and am very interested in/drawn to it. I love the idea of integrating the earth in this practice. Does anyone here practice this style or know much about it?

Any advice would be welcome!

Awe dear heart...You are certainly in the right place as it sounds to me that you may just be in need of some spiritual food...You have become aware of what is going on with you and that is half the battle won, so to speak.

I'm all too familiar with what happens when one has gone through a period of time where they are infused with spiritual food...like the reiki you were involved in, but then when it ends...so does the spiritual food, and slowly slowly the external influences creep in and pollute the mind.

Remember that we need to take in spiritual food as often as possible, the mind can be a fickle thing, and when we do not feed the spirit the egotistical mind can run rampant and we lose (temporarily) our centredness.

So get relaxed, peaceful with yourself in a state of forgivness for your own soul and just browse through....perhaps the course in miracles, anything you are drawn to....spiritual poetry perhaps or even do a recap on the rieki as you mentioned, variety is the spice of life though so maybe something different, what happened to level 2...perhaps a walk through the countryside and connecting with nature in some way, go barefoot in the park...you get my gist.

You could have a look at the spiritual stories....Vasalisa the wise is a good one. Trust your intuition to guide you back to where you want to be and pray to the silences of your soul...you will be back on track in no time.

Reiki manuals are easy to find, if you want to practice it again. You have the full third level so you can even go through the process of attuning yourself again. Every day for 21 days, just go through the motions of giving yourself a treatment in person. Hold the hand positions for five minutes each if you can or for as much time as you have available. It is okay to not feel anything. It is still working. Once you are attuned you never lose your connection to the energy entirely. The same things they talk about in "The Celestine Prophecy" apply here. Your diet will make an enormous impact on your ability to feel and see the energy. It also helps if you can spend more time appreciating beauty. They said in the book that different people may think different things are beautiful, but that beauty is something that is the same for everyone because there are common characteristics. It says in the book that the amount of love you feel is a measure of how connected you are to the flow of energy. The more you can allow your environment to open you up, the easier it will be to begin feeling the energy more often.

There is a forum I would suggest going to for free attunements online. You can explain that you are already an Usui Reiki master, and that you want to be re-attuned at this level because it has been a while since you used it and you would like help getting back in the flow.

After that, you can go on to receive the other reiki systems that they offer. Follow your intuition with this.

First of all I just wanted to thank the both of you for you advice and support! One thing I did for myself was to take a week vacation away from my home. I stayed at a relative's cabin and took some time to try to release all of the negative energy that I have been feeling (both toward myself and others). The first few days alone were very emotional, but I eventually felt more at peace, that I was able to let go of a lot of anger and unrealistic expectations that I have been carrying around. The next few days i concentrated on focusing on the beauty around me, in me, in my dog, everywhere, and consciously trying to lift my vibration and the ones of those around me once I felt I had lifted my own enough. One thing I have been worried about this whole time is projecting the energy outward , if I hadn't attained a higher one myself. Scared of putting more fear and anger into the world I guess, silly when you think that just the actof being worried about that would make it more likely to happen. I also re-read the Secret of Shambala book over this week, and must say that it has helped me immensely in helping me to see just what my intentions and expectations can create. Powerful stuff. Well, I didn't decide to come home untill I felt I was maintaining my energy pretty well.

Once I got back here though, it felt like falling into the same old patterns. I think it is very hard to live with someone else and also maintain your own energy level, to not let someone else's emotions and energy, or even your reaction to them, negatively affect your own. Well, it is something I am still working on, but I do feel as though I am making progress. Slowly but surely. I think another thing that I have been letting hold me back is my own frustration that I can intellectualize all of these concepts and believe in them, but living them is truly a different story, one that we must pay constant attention too. I have been irritated at myself that I am not making as much progress as quickly as I would like to, or as quickly as I had in the past. Another realization that has helped is that sometimes when things happen so suddenly, but do not last, is that they can be glimpses into the future of how things could be, but that actually getting there on a constant basis requires commitment and dedication. As for the reiki, I am able to feel it more often than not now. I still feel very blocked at some times, but at others I can feel the energy surging. I will check out the links that you posted, they seem as though they could be very useful.

I try to pay attention to my diet and eat nutritious foods, although I must admit that sometimes it is difficult. I try to stay away from high salt and highly processed foods. Unfortunately, sometimes it is hard to get fresh fruits and veggies where I live, as just going to the grocery store involves and ferry ride and quite a drive. I also do eat meat, but most of it is harvested locally from the ocean or land. What specifically can one do to their diet to enable the perception of the energy?

Overall I have been feeling significantly better, more aware of the beauty around me, a bit more "spring to my step" so to speak, and most importantly the feeling that I am on the right path and I can help create a better future for myself and others in the world.

The part about using your diet is in the first extension. It gives examples of foods (like meat) that make your body more acidic and examples of foods that make your body more alkaline (most vegetables, especially leafy green ones). More water content is better than less.

The first book talks about appreciating your food, savoring the taste, and chewing throroughly before swallowing it. Yoga books make the same suggestion. There are places in your mouth that absorb energy well, and it helps to digest your food better if you can more thoroughly mix it with saliva because of the enzymes which start the process of digestion.

The fourth extension applies to your situation at home. Remember the way they protected the valley? First they raised energy and then they requested the Dakini come and remain to guard the four compass point directions. You can also ask for them to be sent to protect specific people, such as yourself and the person or people you live with. You have to ask them to come and to remain. The results are more effective than raising energy on your own, and the results of lifting the vibration are stronger.

Remember to spend time every day raising energy. If you don't get a chance to, for some reason, when you are going to bed think the word "reiki" a few times with the intent to activate it for a full treatment. It will help you sleep better anyway. If you learn to give attunements, you can attune objects. Crystals, glass, and metal objects hold attunements longest. You can touch an object or hold it in your hands and intend to attune the object to reiki so that it will radiate out reiki energy into the vicinity. Your intuition will have to guide you on how often to repeat the process.

You mention having a personal reiki symbol. Writing it on a piece of paper that you can keep on your person would give you a way to use the symbol passively. If you can write it on another paper and store a bottle of drinking water over it, then drinking the water would carry the energy of the symbol into you with the water. There are other symbols you can use because you have the full set of attunements, that are normally taught at the second level. The symbols are all over the internet, but the thing about the secrecy is for your benefit. If you don't think you can explain to the people you live with what you are doing and why, or if you think that they would react negatively to the symbols in a way that would have an impact on your ability to use them, you probably shouldn't write them down. If you want to visualize them use purple and then imagine the symbol soaking in and dissolving where you are placing it. A bottle of water, a pillow, a wall, a window - anything, really.

I don't live alone either and I know it can be a challenge. Smile

Some great information here! I would be interested in looking into the alkaline vs acidic food more. Is there a specific term for this? Now that it has been on my mind the last few days, I remember that my "peak" time of spirituality and energy work was when I was a vegetarian. Definitely will be cutting down on my meat consumption in the future. Also, i used to work in a bakery and remember using reiki as I was making the bread loaves and thinking how it would go to a lot of people in the town. Smile It's good to appreciate your food through the whole chain it has taken from seed to plate.

I also did as you recommended and used the fourth extension and asked for the dakinis help in raising the energy level at home. It has been a day and I can already feel a difference. Very Happy

I think half of the struggle for me is finding that hour or so a day when I can have completely to myself and quiet to be still and feel the energy. I have been working on making sure this happens. Wink

The thing about acid and alkaline doesn't entirely make sense to me. Often lemons are suggested as a food to make the body more alkaline, but chemically speaking I can't think of a more acidic food just from memory. It just happens to be in the Secret of Shamballa book, which you have.

Something I read about a couple of years ago is the glycemic index. It ranks sugars and carbohydrates by their impact on insulin levels. High glycemic index foods are the ones that will give you a sugar high and leave you with a crash afterward. They say it is better to eat fruit than to drink fruit juice because the fiber from the actual fruit slows the absorption of the sugars so you don't get the same kind of insulin spike. The interesting thing they don't say is that when you combine foods the glycemic index of the combination is different than the index for the foods separately. Also, you can lower the impact of a high glycemic index food by chewing it really well.

I'm glad that the fourth extension helped. Smile

If you find an hour to practice, that's great - spending an hour can give you time to unwind and really go more deeply than usual into your energy work. It is also useful to get into the habit of doing quick little practices. A single breath is enough to draw in energy and then release stuck thoughts and emotions on the exhalation. It isn't necessary to be alone or to go deep enough to feel it working if you can trust in the process. You may find yourself having short intervals where you find yourself having to wait line in line at a store or in traffic at an intersection. There is always time for a positive thought. Not that you have to be doing something for your development and for uplifting your environment. Just relaxing and enjoying your day is a perfectly good use of your time.

Also, if you are confident in the process, you can ask your reiki to run in the background to give you a treatment. If you want to have it run for an hour it will run for an hour. If you want it to run as strongly as possible for ten minutes, that's what it will do. Even if you ask for this and do not feel anything, if you can trust in the process it will make doing this easier the next time and you will be more likely to feel something then. Sometimes I will notice that I'm meditating and it is going unusually well and then I will remember that I had requested my reiki to flow and forgotten about it.

I met my teacher when we were both working in a grocery. He was a baker, too. Can you imagine being given a reiki attunement in the break room?

My teacher suggesting putting a bottle of water out so that it will receive a full day of sunlight, then using the light in a spray bottle to clear the energy of a room. He also said that I could go around the building and just spray the water around corners, doors, and windows - but that would look odd for someone like me who is in an apartment building. Don't worry about the upper floor windows. Just intend protection for the entire building and get what you can reach.

My understanding is that acidic foods become alkaline once they are ingested. I keep a bottle of organic lemon juice in my refrigerator, and put a dash of it whenever I get a glass of water. Some say it's an acquired taste, but I love it! If I'm ever feeling toxic, I can usually tell it's because I'm overly acidic, and lemon (or lime) water seems to quickly bring me back to balance. Hope this helps!

First I would like to say, I'm not very long winded so it won't take long to read my responses, in most cases.

Second, I am attuned Reiki 1 and 2 and also Certified in Soul focused Healing 1,2,3, and 4. I have found that I have been in a similar place and felt "closed" to the world around me. I could still do the "work" while feeling this way, but seemed to gain nothing for my own healing as i had before.

Now, one thing that has always been a part of my understanding, we are never not on our path. No matter where we are or what we feel, it is exactly where we are supposed to be. we have to experience everything to learn who we really are.

Keep trying to focus but if you still feel "blocked" let it go for a while and just live. The knowledge of what IS will always be with us and we always find our way back to IT.
