Waking up seeing spiders that are not there!

Hi all

Sometimes i experience waking up, seeing a huge spider near me, either at the ceiling above me, crawling towards me in the bed, or (happened last time) crawling under me at the floor..
The weird thing about these dreams are:
- I am awake when i see the huge spider
- Instantly i scream and jump out of the bed- my heart is racing- and i feel terified

After a minute or two i am looking, to see where the spider is. And i realise that it is not real!

I have had these dreams in a couple of years now... and they tend to appear when i am in some kind of life changing situation- or when i feel empowered by something at work or in my life in general..

Do any of you have any experiences or any knowledge about the meaning of this??

Hi Kat, the link above is a web site that has some interpretations of 'animal totems'.

You may have heard of 'Animal Speaks', by Ted Andrews? If not I will give a layman's understanding of the idea.

Animal totems is an expression describing Native American perspective on the appearance or presence in one's life of animals. There is a fairly consistent symbolism for each animal. Of course there are popular animals and meanings like wolves, bear etc. But even with small creatures such as spiders there is meaning to be found.

I particularly like the description of what spider symbolizes in one's life, at least in this interpretation provided in the link above. As most of the entries in this listing of animal totems do, there is an uplifting perspective described as well as a perspective for how one can broaden one's awareness away from fear.

Depending on what your personal perspective is, Kat, there are other ways to consider the presence of spider in your waking moments. I would be interested in how reading the information at the above link feels to you before we consider alternative ideas at this point though.

I would also like to welcome you to the forum. On this topic, as well as many others, you may find a wealth of information and insights in the forum here. There are so many beautiful people with a huge breadth of experience and knowledge at your disposal here.

The last time, a week ago, i saw the spider crawling on the floor carrying a "bag" after her... and she was bigger than the previous spiders!??

It is making sence, when reading this interpretation.

As i said i tend to have these "dreams" when something extraordinary happens in my life-
Last week, the day before i was dreaming about the spider- i tried using the method from the insights, about expecting a fantastic day to come (a prayer)..
Befor i went to bed, i visualized myself waiking up in peace, not having a lot off thoughts in my mind, having a pleasant jouney to where i work, and having a positive day at work!

All of this happened to the fullest (i even experienced seeing a note hanging from a bush walking to work, on the note it said "have a nice day! with a little red heart) At work i had a fantastic day, feeling inspired and empowered

At night i dreamt about a spider-



I am now wondering if it is because i am finding the carrier i am supposed to have- and its mostly the greatest feeling i get when i am in charge..

OR, it can maybe be linked to the times where i am the most stressed!

I have so many thoughts and experiences- i feel that i am developing spiritually as never before- things come to me short after i envision them!

I guess it comes down to me being confused about, if it is a sign of me being on the wrong or the right path!

I guess i am confused if this means that i am going the wrong way. and therefor the spider asks me to be aware, or does the spider show me that i am now finding my path!

I would suggest to you that both aspects are 'true'. This is, after all what the Buddha said. This is what physics is revealing to us as we go further into the past of the universe on an astronomical level, as well as what it reveals to us on the sub-atomic level. All electrons are positive, and at the same time all electrons are negative. If it is true about the stuff that our bodies are built upon, it is true about us. All of the universe is expanding, we humans along with it. This reveals our future.

As unique aspects of the universe, we are both positive and negative. Before we wake up to our true-er nature, we are stumbling along a path. As we wake to what is really going on in the world as well as our individual life, we see how our path until this moment has allowed and created this moment we are now experiencing. This understanding is what makes our future so exciting.

We can see how all things work together for 'good', if one has the awareness to understand that. With this consciousness, the appearance of a spider to you, is from one perspective, you revealing all of yourself to yourself.

The spider shows you your fear, as well as your power. You have woven and are weaving, the web of your life. In my experience, when an animal or a spirit or a symbol is dramatically revealed to us with no warning, our response/reaction is what reveals the meaning of the experience, not to mention 'where we are' within our personal process.

Your questions about your self only you can answer. Are you afraid of what you have created (yourself) or are you encouraged that your experience is exactly what you will create henceforth?

It's all fun stuff and I am excited for you as you proceed along your journey. I appreciate your sharing it with us here.

I think that it is correct, when you are saying, that the teaching in this, has something to do with my reaction to the dream..

Since my mom was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, when i was a child, i have allways tried to controle allmost everything... so bad things could not happen-

I think maby, with me moving out of a certain comfort zone in my life, it triggers a fear in me-
And at the same time, the symbol is telling me that i am on the correct path at this time..

Hi there. i just wanted to note also that you should look at animal totems. I go through the same thing only for me it is snakes. I started out just dreaming about them but then I would dream that they were next to me in bed and I would wake up convinced it was there. Usually happens when I am to pay attention to something. If I start ignoring something important a snake will bite me in a dream to get my attention! It also happens when I start on a physical cleansing to raise my vibrations. I know I'm on the right path because I'll start seeing snakes in waking life on television and on walks. Hope this helps.
