Hi everyone, just been really exploring meditation and i may reached a critical situation.
I've been using binaural beats to estimulate brain activity and most people say that it can take you to the same meditation than those who medidate for years.
The exception is that i do meditate for a few years now, but i found it very easy to get to that weightless feeling with binaural beats. For a few days i manage to get my body a bit numb and feel my mind like flying...but today i got very scared! I didn't slept much last night, so i decided to stay in bed for a couple of hours more. Those hours i was in that light sleep so i put binaural beats in my mp3 player and started listening (not the first time i do that), so i got really sleepy and that urge of mind running in the air start occuring(so i switched off the mp3 player), the last thing i remember is loosing audiction and instead there was a buzzing sound like stactic. My mind was like in a dream, but i was very conscious of everything, i was in a place i know, a road in the city (nothing special to me, just a road) i looked at the houses near the road, looked back and saw the left mirror of my car in trafic just a few metter above my position. At this moment the realistic feeling was so strong that i kind of start panicing(panic) since the buzz in my ears and my head was feeling heavy i felt i couldn't move my body so i tried harder and i could move just my right hand finger touching my back very slowly in an attempt to get me out of there so i did.
Now i'm scared of meditation, some sounds, musics, light patterns trigger those feelings so i concentrate in something else instead of "feeding" the feeling. Because epilepsy is based on the same "triggers" i'm affraid i'm developing that sort of thing!
Can someone please tell me if i should push forward in the meditation or should i just stop it completly? and is this sort of thing normal to happen?
Thanks for everything! _________________ Forever trust in who we are... |

Hi Horus,
Simple meditation just to relax is ok and safe but my masters have often told me never to mess around with advanced techniques.
What you are using now needs careful supervision.I have a friend that messed up herself and she has now an overactive/overheated body and drinking water or eating "cooling" foods does not help. She has seen a few gurus/doctors/meditation experts but none can help her.
Some simple steps can be reversed and corrected but when it is too messed up,fused together and is too late,no one can help. They will tell her honestly:nothing can be done.
It is just too late and too deep.
Most masters will advice you to stay off for a month depending on how bad it is and this time, when you re-start,to stick to ONLY 1 technique and don't go to advanced techniques. Many gurus themselves DO suffer from good meditation gone BAD.
Take care and all will be well.In the meantime,i suggest doing more physical stuff like gardening, cooking, house cleaning cos it will "reset" your mind.
It did work for some people that i know so you can try it too.

One more thing, please ask your master about clearing exercises after your meditation..each style has it's own personal technique...If not,it would be nice to see a professional now

Thank you 9dragons, I'm glad you told me that or else i could be in a mess right now...
However, that binaural beats stimulation made me more aware, more reactive and a fast learner which is excellent since I'm currently studying and I could memorize things easily.
Interesting is the fact that I felt the need for sleep more hours than usual and that situation I mentioned happened in a night that I slept like five hours, so maybe it was my brain in need for a break and I made it very active by stimulation which didn't worked out has planned. By the way, last night I manage to get sort of 14 hours of sleep and that is a new record to me, usually I don't get passed 10 and that's already pushing it!
I don't currently see any master or doctor of some kind, I do know a person who could give me a hint, but she's out of the country most of the time.
Thanks again _________________ Forever trust in who we are... |

Hi Horus,
Always nice to feel appreciated..If one is into a simple, easy going, harmonious and peaceful life, then, simple meditation is good enough. If one wants to try remote sensing, astral travel, out of body experiences,etc..well,those are advanced skills in need of proper guidance and safeguards ,just in case something goes wrong.
Reading from a book and trying from videos ain't harmless cos different people have different mind/body set and development. Some will progress easily/safely while others will mess up the internal chi flow.
Even with my basic mediation of 10 mins,i am able to sleep 5 hrs and my body can't sleep anymore.I wake up alert without any tiredness or fatigue and ready to go from the moment my feet touch the floor.A full day's work and then back to sleep for 5 hrs.I can sleep earlier but that will wake me up earlier and it is pretty useless.
All in all, listen to your body and make slow, very slow progress and all will be well.
Good wishes

Hello Horus.
I have had somewhat of the same experience, twice. It is a very intense scary feeling, that is for sure. Mine happened to me actually after meditating one time and then trying to go to sleep afterward. It sent me into a weird phobia of sleeping for a while and that was no fun. The way I had to get through that block was to re-enact that experience somewhat and change the way my mind views that experience, so I had to go back and make it a good experience. I meditated and started lucid dreaming, but this time I called upon white light from the divine to protect and guide me and I was taken to a beautiful place that seemed like future planet earth. I got to fly around through the air and ocean, I saw the pyramids of Egypt and volcanoes and beautiful mountains. Now, when I think of meditating, I still get that weird feeling of fear in my stomach, which makes me not want to do it, but immediately goes away when I start to meditate. My advice is to start calling upon the white light to guide and protect you through your experience. You don't always necessarily see the light but you feel its presence which is a calming, peaceful sense of being. The more you do it and make it a beautiful experience instead of a fearful one, the more you will move through the phobia.\
I hope I helped out,
Namaste. _________________ Namaste |
