A friend of mine gave me some aloe vera many years ago and now it is grown into a big plant.Recently, there were a few shops selling the aloe vera drink and i wonder whether the one that i have at home is edible?
(For some of you new to this, aloe vera is a green plant with thick stems and little spikes on the edges.Inside the stems is a sticky, transparent, mucus like juice that is used to promote healing on burns.I am not sure if the ones that can be drunk has been processed to make it safe to drink and if so,how was it processed?
Perhaps one can just treat it like an apple, slice away the outside skin and eat the transparent pulp inside.
Any ideas anyone?
All input is welcomed here
Thanks

The juice of the Aloe Vera plant is already safe to ingest. I'm not sure of its benefits but it;s good as a topical for more than just burns.
As for topical alternatives to Neosporin, you might also try honey. Store bought honey is fine. It never expires and is a natural aniseptic you can apply to minor cuts and wounds. Ingested it's good for killing germs too. A nice hot cuppa tea with lemon and honey goes a long way for a chest cold. A friend taught me this after I scraped my knee in a minor bicycling accident a few years ago. Amazing stuff. Of course you should avoid it in case of allergy to bees. _________________ Smiles and Sunshine 4ever,
